Tom McGauley is a Member of Outside CFO LLC.
Tom has extensive experience as a CFO and senior financial executive with publicly traded companies and private early-stage companies in the life sciences industry. Areas of significant experience include SEC filings, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, fundraising and investor relations.
Prior to joining Outside CFO, Tom was the CFO of Galectin Therapeutics where he completed a $12 million offering in conjunction with an up-listing of the company to the NASDAQ. Additionally, he was the consultant CFO, financial consultant and advisor to several other private early-stage life science companies where he helped raise more than $34 million in venture capital funding.
Tom began his finance career working for public accounting firms, most recently as a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. At PwC he specialized in life science companies and was the lead manager on numerous financing transactions totaling more than $500 million, including an initial public offering. He left public accounting to work as the Director of Financial Reporting for a former client, a NASDAQ listed company headquartered in Iceland.
Prior to his career in finance he served on active duty in the U.S. Army and later the MA Army National Guard, ending his military career as a Captain and Company Commander.
He received a BS in Accounting from Stonehill College and is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts.
Tom lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts with his wife, Katie, and enjoys sailing, golf and fly-fishing in the warmer months and skiing and curling in the winter. He is very involved with the Museum of Fine Arts and also serves on the executive board of the Boston Chapter of Save Venice.
